He Has Another Love

My sugar has such a big heart. His love for me is amazing. I feel safe when he's around. I know I'm adored by him. I know that having him as my eternal companion is the best decision I've ever made. I LOVE my sugar.
But it's true. He has fallen for another girl, yet again. As if I wasn't enough, or even his second love after me couldn't satisfy him.
Another girl has caught his eye. Another girl is able to make him light up whenever he sees her. Another girl is able to leave him speechless with just a little smile or smirk. Another girl has found a place in his giant, loving heart that I can't compete with. Another girl has the power to make him weep just when he thinks about how lucky he is to have her in his life. He truly loves another girl, and I LOVE him even more for it.

The Bar-B-COOLest Dad

This father's day I wanted to prove to myself that I didn't, repeat DID NOT, need PINTEREST to come up with a cute, original, creative idea. On my freaking own, dang it. I would do it, even if it killed me.

So once I figured out what I wanted to do, I did what any sensible person would do, I searched PINTEREST. I had to see if some one else had my idea, just better or cuter than mine. Fortunately, I didn't find anything, so that made me happy. I felt like I was creative again, and that I could do something special for my sugar. Corny and sappy, but get over it. Ha! (I know he could care less if the idea was mine or someone else's, but I cared.)

What did I come up with...

"You are the Bar-B-COOLest Dad!"

This father's day weekend was full of BBQ, from delicious southern BBQ food, to BBQ grilling tools, and finally, fun times with family and friends at actual BBQs.

"Izza Pizza Party"

My best friend from high school is still my very best friend today. I am so glad to have her in my life still. I love that our kids can play together, always smiling, laughing, and having fun. It saddens me to think that in 2 short years, we will be moving from Las Vegas and my best friend. Stick, aka Sara, I HEART you.

It was her middle boy's birthday, Dillon, and we were excited to attend. (Dillon is one of the brother's that Afton is not quite sure who she wants to marry in the temple. Either Dillon or his big brother Tyson. Decisions. Decisions.)

Dillon?
or Tyson?

It was a Pizza Party that was hosted by the UNLV Culinary Instructor. All invited got to make their own pizza from scratch in a REAL kitchen, along with decorate their own sugar cookies. The kids had so much, but I think the adults did as well. Plus the pizzas were delicious! I may have eaten the entire thing.

This party put my parties to shame. Thanks Sara for letting my kids come and celebrate with your boy. It was such a fun party. I am bummed that I didn't get a picture with your cute boy with my babies, especially in their special aprons. Happy Birthday Dillon.

Fun with Cousins

During my bed rest, I had to rely on many people to help me out with lots of things, well EVERYTHING. One of them being raising my children. My sister in law Stephanie was one of those generous people. Just about every week for 6 months, she took my children and I am truly thankful. So when she asked me for a favor, I was happy to return the kindness.

We got to play with James, Andrew, and Brooke for three whole days while she went out of town and my brother was at work. It was overwhelming at first to think of how I would keep all 6 kids, ages 9 and under ALL happy, occupied, and alive. But I am happy to report, we ALL survived!

Here's some stuff we did.
We love these beads from IKEA.
Colored
Snuggled (and fought over) Jocelyn
We watched 4 movies. Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Harry Potter, Lego Movie, and The Princess Bride.
Played at the park
Swam
Created their own Lego Men...
To be placed on their own "Lego Scene " boxes.
Their Lego story was about three cousins who played at the park with their puppies and ate lots of ice cream.
Afton was inspired to read a chapter book like her cousins do.
(I was thrilled as she made up a story as she turned the pages about a princess.)
I busted out the teacher manipulatives!
 Building fine motor skills
 Discussing measurement
My girl went 3D with a cube.
Then James was inspired to build a sword and THOR hammer.
Solar System Puzzle
Roll the Dice to create a unique Lego man
Created Marshmallow Shooters

All in all, I think they had a good time. I know my kids loved having their cousins over to play!
