Momentary Bliss

Did I just inhale these 2 cupcakes in less than 37 seconds? Yes. Yes I did.

Why?

Ok.

Here it goes.

Jocelyn and Afton are sick. Again. 4th time since we've moved here. Jocy has had a fever since Sunday off and on. Afton's fever was worst today but started feeling bad on Monday. It's only Wednesday but just the beginning of whatever is bothering her.

Cat scan for the babe - since Jocy was hit in the head at the park by a large swing - very large swing

Chest and Abdomen x-ray - since Jocy cried the entire time at the doctor today (11:00 am until 4pm) - a hysterical cry that had the doctor is a state of panic at times as she couldn't tell the doctor any specific spot it hurt - only wail in pain

Afton has a follow up appt because the Dr. Is concerned with her tummy, and wants to rule out anything major.

Diagnosis - they're sick.

There is much more that is currently stressing me out, but my babes are most important. They're in pain. They ache. They're exhausted. I haven't slept since last Friday. I'm exhausted. They feel terrible and I can't seem to help.

Even a Slurpee can only help a little bit. Just like 2 Hostess Cupcakes can not bring me true happiness. Just momentary bliss until I have to console my miserable, sick babes who just can't seem to catch a break.

Secret Beach

As we walked down looking to explore, Jack said, "Mom. This place could be our secret beach. It looks like no one even knows about it."

But when we got all the way to the water, there was an older couple off to the right sitting in their folding chairs and all of their grandchildren way down the beach off to the right.

And that was it.

We kept to ourselves, just explored, imagined, played, and time passed.

As the grandma began to call for her grandchildren, she came over to talk to me.

She said that they had been coming here for years and had never seen anyone else come. Her husband, retired from the Navy born in Bellevue, and her, a retired teacher, were just talking about how this spot had been such a fun place for them to come with their grandkids every summer for the last 20 years. They had just been talking about how all the kids called it their "Secret Beach," and then our little clan walked down. They chuckled to themselves and said, "So much for our little secret." She said that today would probably be the last time they'd be down for the summer because her grandkids only come for a few weeks each year, and were getting too old to be entertained here. She said that her kids, a girl - boy - girl, have all moved away and it breaks her heart, but she's glad they're all doing so well. She said we will love it here and now are in charge of keeping their secret beach beautiful.

I enjoyed our conversation and couldn't help but think of how many similarities there were in our lives, just in different stages. Possible foreshadowing or just coincidence? I'm not sure.  But, man do I hope that we can enjoy this secret beach as much as they have for the past 20 years.

Girls Night

Daddy and Jack are enjoying Nitro Circus at Safeco tonight by themselves without us girls (Jack's birthday present that he wanted desperately. "I want to do something just by myself with mom or dad, like Afton did for her 7th birthday, remember. Her awesome horseback riding trip.")

So us girls are having fun without them. (As much fun as one can have when the mom has a bit of a head cold and Jocelyn is full-fledged sick, since she decided to go into the Puget Sound willingly up to her neck, with all of her clothes and shoes on.)

Movie ~ Nancy Drew

Treat ~ Dippin' Dots

See the boogers dripping from her nose. Poor babe.

Activity ~ Painting nails

(This post is being written because I asked my Sugar to be sure to take lots of pictures of Jack's special night. I really hope he has, but if not, I'll steal this picture from his Instagram account and use this to help remember - both for Jack and me.)

Currently Looking into Adoption

Today was just the meet and greet.

She wanted to look pretty for her teacher.

She was nervous at first, and too shy to tell her teacher her name. But she was able to point it out on her cubby when her teacher asked which one was her's.

She couldn't be bothered with meeting other kids. "I has you here momma and all dese toys to explore."

She's going to do great. I'm going to be a mess.

My husband will be furious with this post. Absolutely furious. But I'm not sure that this is the last babe I want to take to preschool. Ever. That's a pretty freaking big deal.

I know I'm done physically having babies, especially since my pregnancies suck royal butt. (My husband thinks the doctors and I just make up the whole, "Need to be on bed rest" thing.) But, I'm currently looking into adoption. Because come on. How freaking cute is this?
