2 0 1 7

We got to host preschool this morning. With everyone's crazy holiday schedules, our Christmas party never happened, and my girl was pretty bummed about it.

So, we had a New Years party today.

For the last few weeks, my girl has been harassing me. "My party is happening today, please!?"

EVERY. DAY. She asked. She really wanted to have her friends come over.

And this morning, when she said, "I has a nice party for my frens mom," she was thrilled when I finally responded yes.

It seemed like they all had fun learning the numbers 2, 0, 1, & 7. I know my girl did.

"Momma. We has the party again tomorrow okay?"

White and Water

I'm 34 years old and this is only my 2nd time that I've missed my mom's Christmas Eve party.

The first time was in 2006, when we spent the holiday in Jamaica. The beautiful white sandy beaches and gorgeous ocean water helped me get through it. I even had a smile on my face.

But this morning and afternoon, I've been a bit sad. I called my mom to see how she's doing, stressing like usual over the preparation. Just really missing my family and the fun tradition I'm so used to.

But again, something white and some frozen water have helped me get through this Christmas Eve, even with a smile on my face.

"It's a Christmas miracle."

Robolights

I can't explain it.

But it was listed as something to do in the Palm Springs area that's free this Christmas season.

The artist, owner of this home, is definitely dedicated to his work. And for that, it's admirable. I may not understand his art, but I definitely appreciate that he does this all for free, even when he's being cited daily for breaking safety laws by the city of Palm Springs. Again, dedicated.

There were over 10 million lights, at least 15 toilets that I spotted, body parts every where, clown heads, and more. There is no doubt in my mind, Afton and Jack will both end up in our bed tonight terrified by something that they saw tonight in their dreams/nightmares.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Rain

"I know the rain is cold my dear, but dance in it a little, while you wait for the sun." ~ A.J. Lawless

"She lives to see the sun and feel the wind and drink the rain." ~ Lord Huron

"Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain."

"Without rain nothing grows. Learn to embrace the storms of your life."

"Be strong because it will get better. It may be stormy now, but it can't rain forever."

Junior Rangers

It's probably our 10th time coming to Joshua Tree National Park but today my kids were asked if they are participating in the "Junior Ranger" program.

Their eyes lit up with excitement when they were given their little books and pencils. The thought of earning badges was almost too much for Jack to handle. He'll go farther in the scouting program than his Daddy did.

"Dis is a fun playground momma."

Another fun adventure with these babes.
