"Moooove Over"

How have I lived here my entire life and never gone on a tour of Anderson Dairy? Jack was so excited to see the cows out in front. He shouted "Moooooove over!" while pushing Afton out of the way to get closer. He was pretty disappointed when he saw they were just statues.

"What the heck? THEY AREN'T REAL. HOW WILL WE GET REAL MILK THEN?" (I don't think he intentionally said moooooove like cow's moo, but it was perfect! Great little play on words from my boy.) And then can you believe I didn't even get a picture with them by the cows? ARGH!

We got to play with cousins and friends.
Afton, Andrew, & James
Ella and Jocelyn
Jack, Dawson, and Michelle's legs

It was a fun tour and the best part was the free ice cream at the end.
Poor Brooke couldn't have ice cream, but she was loving the popsicle!
COOKIES AND CREAM BABY!
Delicious! Fun times!

Recycled Ladybugs

My girl and boy are all about recycling these days. They want to use every piece of everything to "make something special for our (their) collection." It's hard for me to keep this stuff around the house because I want to actually get rid of trash/recyclable materials (like most people do), but my babies are quite creative!

Who am I to stop their creative juices from flowing?

One morning, they wanted to use our egg cartons to make a "Ladybug Bug Feeder." They were going to place their creations in the garden and "allow all of the creatures outside to have food all ready and easy for them to get. It will be like their very own restaurant."

.
Finished products
Had to bring them some lunch later in the day.
"All healthy stuff mom. Like snap peas, corn, and carrots. Do you think they like fruit snacks?" asked Jack.

I love their excitement for life, creativity, design, and love for all sorts of Heavenly Father's creatures.

They came back to check on them the next day.

"Jack look. I trained this rolly poley (sp?)."
Jack says, "Um, but he looks dead."
"No Jack, he's not dead. I trained him to lay there very still."

Colors

Jack is left handed. I have tried so many tricks to help him feel comfortable holding a pencil, but he just is having hard time. I need to continue to help him build his fine motor skills. This was a fun way to do that.

"Let's do some learning guys. Let's learn about colors."

Jack replies, "No, I refuse to learn, but I will do an activity with colors."

"Okay, fine, we will do absolutely no learning during this scientific color activity." (Yeah right!)

As I was explaining this "activity," I used many scientific words, like hypothesis, outcome, predict, discover, and observe. I used them over and over while showing them what was expected. (They had to use medicine droppers (fine motor skills) to make the same color as the poof ball. They both filled up the middle row of the cupcake tin first, then switched to try to make the second set of colors.)

Then I let them learn play with colors.

Afton said things like, "I observe the colors mixing together. I already did this in preschool mommy. I know how to be a scientist." She also said, "I can discover a new color. OH crap, I made brown. Argh."

Jack said, "My hy-mop-o-sis is to get the color in the right spot. If I get yellow and blue, my hymoposis will make green." Then he said, "Afton, will you help me? I soberve (observe) your colors are nicer than mine."

When we were all done making our colors, Afton used the fun colors she made to paint on paper.
Jack decided to paint his body!
This was a great and easy activity to help my little left handed boy build his little muscles in his fingers and hands!

"Oooh, I need to eat my numbers!"

While shopping for school supplies this morning, Jack disappeared, like usual. (Not the disappeared like CPS needs to be called on me, but the kind of disappear that is not far away, just out of view, which in turn gives me a heart attack kind of disappear.)
As I turn to look for him I hear him scream, from the end of the aisle, "Oooh I need to eat my numbers."
So we bought them. Actually he bought them, because he insisted on using his $2 on buying them instead of a toy. I didn't stop him.
We got home and practiced our numbers. We identified them. We put them in order, discussing the ones that were missing from the pack. We made two digit numbers. We compared numbers. And then of course, we ate our numbers.

Happy 5th Month

Updates: This baby has laughed. Yay! That's all I wanted in month 4 and it happened! It's so cute too.

In this month, she discovered her toes and they make her oh so happy.

She got tons of toys to play with, that seem to enjoy big brother and big sister too.

She grew.
Well you were 4 and 1/2 months in this picture.

She had shots, that rocked her world... and mine as well.

She had her first cold or signs of teething! I don't know; it's so hard to tell.
Why can't babies just tell me what's wrong?

She got to ride on 4 wheeler and look for bears.

She got to play in the pool a lot more, since she can wear sun block now.

She decided that she only likes bottles now, which saddens me, and makes my life even more stressful.

She has out grown the newborn cry and instead has a scream/squeal that she uses quite frequently to make sure she is still the center of attention.

She continued to be as cute as ever each week at church.

She was still snuggled daily; her brother and sister fight over her at least 3 times a day.
"It's no fair mom. I have not held Baby Jocelyn for like 14 years." - Jack

She ate solids for the first time!

She made a friend.

She is still loved.

She always will be.
