Girls Night

Daddy and Jack are enjoying Nitro Circus at Safeco tonight by themselves without us girls (Jack's birthday present that he wanted desperately. "I want to do something just by myself with mom or dad, like Afton did for her 7th birthday, remember. Her awesome horseback riding trip.")

So us girls are having fun without them. (As much fun as one can have when the mom has a bit of a head cold and Jocelyn is full-fledged sick, since she decided to go into the Puget Sound willingly up to her neck, with all of her clothes and shoes on.)

Movie ~ Nancy Drew

Treat ~ Dippin' Dots

See the boogers dripping from her nose. Poor babe.

Activity ~ Painting nails

(This post is being written because I asked my Sugar to be sure to take lots of pictures of Jack's special night. I really hope he has, but if not, I'll steal this picture from his Instagram account and use this to help remember - both for Jack and me.)

Seahawk 7th

I texted all of our family that we live by now.

Asked if they could make it.

Asked Jack to pick his favorite 7 snacks for his birthday menu. I thought of this while trying to sleep one night and it was like a tongue twister that gets stuck in your head and you keep saying it over and over. (Told him we needed a fruit and vegetable so there was something healthy.)

7 Favorite Snacks for our Favorite 7 Year Old Jack

Say that 7 times fast.

And then decided to make it a Seahawk themed party since I saw the grey colored forks at the store. (Truly inspired. Ha!)

And I knew that I had bought him 2 jerseys and Seahawk colored comforter set for his birthday already. Jerseys are necessities while living here in the PNW.

So, his party turned out. (Thanks to markers, an old cereal box, and gray colored paint sticks for decorations.) Oh, and because of family and a bright sunny day at Chism Beach Park celebrating my handsome, smart, kind, silly, and tender boy.

7 is the new 12.

Ugh and Oh Crap

I would do just about anything for my boy. I know. It's not fair (and I do love my girls immensely as well), but he is just the sweetest, appreciative, most tender little man that ever walked the earth.

A few months back when we started preparing our kids for moving again, they all seemed like they knew what to expect. But, Jack remembered that he would yet again have another birthday without his friends.

So, because his big, deep, beautiful brown eyes, with eyelashes I would kill for, looked up at me with a disappointing look (I'm a sucker - I already know), saying something along the lines of, "I'll just miss another birthday without a fun party Mom." Or, "It's okay. I know that I'm just the middle child, so inevitably you can't dote on me like my big or little sister, Mommy." Or, "Maybe next year I'll get to be celebrated like Afton and Jocelyn are EVERY year with family and their friends, right Momma?"

I can't exactly remember what the crap he said, but it was enough to pierce my freaking heart. So, to rectify the situation, I told him we would throw a small little gathering with his best buds from school before we move. He was appeased and so was I.

And then I forgot.

Ugh.

2 days before the end of the school year Jack asked, "Mom. Where are my invitations for my party? What kind of party is it so I can tell my friends? Thanks again mom for throwing me a party early."

Oh crap.

So glad we were able to throw this together, last minute for my boy! I know that he was appreciative as he told me while looking up at me with his big, deep, beautiful brown eyes and fidget spinner in his hand, "Thanks for my fun party with my friends mommy. I love you so much."

Little Ladies Lunch

I won't have many years of birthday parties left for my sweet firstborn. "How is this possible?" I say to myself as I'm writing this blog post, tearing up a bit.

This being her 8th though, I wanted the big celebration not to be so much for her birthday, but for her baptism instead. Despite my best efforts, a mariachi band won't be attending the baptism, and you and I both know it's not a real celebration unless there is a group of guys singing loudly in big hats and sequined matching outfits.

So we did a LITTLE LADIES LUNCH instead of a big party. She invited a few of her closest friends to the fanciest place that Yucca Valley has to offer, Applebee's. (Kind of sad.) And that was that. No frantically cleaning my house, no party favors, no decorations, no themed food and cake. Just a bunch of good friends making my girl feel loved because she's absolutely amazing and deserving.

I didn't have to plan any games, but this little, "Let's see who can touch their tongue to their nose" activity was pretty funny to watch.

My girl ordered a steak and garlic mashed potatoes. Expensive taste already.

Sundaes all around!
These 3 are in Hip Hop together so why not practice their dance while waiting to be picked up by their parents in the front entry way of the restaurant.
Thanks Grandma Joy for helping be the adult supervision with this crazy group of girls.

Her birthday present was a huge hit!

My Afton Joy, thanks for making me a mommy 8 years ago. I will never forget the instant amount of love and terror I felt that day, hoping to always be the best mommy that you deserve. You have made me proud everyday since and I can't wait to see what your future holds. You amaze me constantly and could not be more proud of the girl that you are currently and what you will become. There has always been something special about you and I am honored to be a little part of your amazing life. I am forever grateful for that. I love you more than you will ever know.
Happy birthday my sweet first baby girl.
