Hiking in the Rain

He's my Gene Kelly.

I'm his Debbie Reynolds.

And today we went Hiking (not singing) in the Rain.

High View Nature Trail has our names in their book a bunch!
Not the top yet.
Ok. The top now.

Prepping for our next 3 years and enjoying some time together while our babes were partying at a birthday.

Frosty

6th grade. 7th grade. 8th grade.

More times than I can remember my best friend, Shar and I, would walk to Wendy's up the street from our houses.

We did this so we could "work out." Not like we needed to back in the day, but it was fun nonetheless.

But because of our "hard working out" efforts, we always rewarded ourselves with our own Frosty and large fries.

We were so smart.

So today, after all of our "hard working" efforts of party planning and baptism preparing, my new best friends and I, rewarded ourselves with a Frosty.

But I refrained from the large fries this time.

I've grown a bit wiser in my old, can't lose the weight like I used to, age.

A Professional

My girl knew what to do to prepare for yet again, another dance with her daddy.

2nd Grade

This is not her first rodeo, so as she put it, "I'm basically a professional now."

 1st grade

Kindergarten

"I need to wear a pretty dress."

"Oh and my nails need some sparkle."

"Curly hair would be great and how about some makeup too? You know... a lot of makeup like you did for my dance recital but not the little amount you did for the daddy daughter dance last year? Come on, please?"

"Oh mom, don't worry. I know who is at the door. It's Daddy bringing me flowers for our special date tonight. I'll get the door, Mom."

This professional had fun. Flowers, dinner, and a little bit of dancing. Oh, and she loves her Daddy the most, so she'll look forward to improving her professionalism every chance she gets.

Afton and her good friend Abbey

Pictured here is Bradley (kind of next to her, but not too close) - the one who helped her see "That there are other boys other than Drake."
OH MY GOSH - SHE IS SEVEN!!!!!!!

Overall, it was a very special night.

Someone Special

Tonight I had a date.

Tonight I got flowers.

Tonight he told me I looked pretty and wanted another picture with me.

Tonight I went out to eat at a place that was special for just him and me, as we had been there before. Just us on a special night.

Tonight I got to be his one and only.

Tonight I was with someone special.

A few other pictures to enjoy from the Someone Special Dance.

"I just need something sweet to eat to help me want to dance."
"There are only maybe 3 other boys in suits tonight. But, that's okay. I bet they are still having fun. I am. All the girls look really pretty huh?"
"That smoke just burned my eyeballs out."

But my favorite quote of the night was when I ran back home to get my jacket and he stayed in the car because, "I'm okay mom. I've got on 3 shirts, a tie, and 2 pants. My underpants and suit pants."

Magic in the Air

Magic is real.

First, my baby girl asked me to take her picture.

Then, her brother willingly went and stood next to her for a picture.

And would you believe it, my big girl did the same.

My babes were being so nice to each other the whole time!

The whole time.

There must be something magic in the air of Morongo.

We are so excited for the wild flowers that will soon bloom in this little canyon. There's been a ton of rain so it's bound to be even more magical!

Simply stated, there is something magical about Morongo.
