My Birthday Weekend

I am aware that my birthday weekend has passed, but I feel the need to remember this fun weekend. So... how will I do that? I can't rely on my memory, because man oh man does that suck! Each passing day, I remember less, and I can't blame it on my age. At least not yet. I am not THAT old. To help me remember, I will blog about it.

Friday Evening!

Rita's Water Ice
It took me right back to my summers spent in Philadelphia, New Jersey, and New York watching Phillies & Yankees games, playing in Central Park, listening to Frank Sinatra, and frequenting my Aunt Joanie's Magic Fridge full of "Wooter" ice (water).

Saturday Morning!
Upon my return from my morning run - melt my heart!
KD's Donuts
Reason to have my morning run.
The blueberry donuts here are ridiculous!
Plus the donut holes that they just give to you. FOR FREE!!!!!
(See why I had to run!)

Wishful thinking!
We will need a car, if we ever have a baby again.
(No, I am not pregnant.)

Saturday Afternoon Dialogue:
Me: So what are we doing tonight? Wait. Don't tell me. I want it to be a surprise. But at least tell me what I should wear.
My sugar: You should probably wear athletic shoes of some sort for the first part of the night. And dress really casual. We are going somewhere for dinner that is really, really, really casual. Also, I don't know how many people are going to go to the last activity. The number just keeps getting higher and higher.
Me thinking to myself: (You have got to be kidding me. I am going to wear ugly tennis shoes that don't go with ANY outfit I would ever want to wear on a special night out; On a night where I would HOPE to get ALL dressed up and look pretty. Argh. Not to mention, We are eating at Mc(freaking)Donald's. Gross. Plus, who the crap are we spending the evening with if I am wearing athletic shoes, and supposedly participating in some sort of ACTIVITY?) sidenote:  I am aware of how snotty I am.
My sugar: Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. There is some earning potential from tonight's festivities.
Me thinking to myself: (Does my husband not know who he married? Seriously. We are golfing. I don't mind golfing, but now I have to control my temper whilst golfing with a big group of people, who, I am sure, are HIS dental school friends. Argh! I have to be extra nice because they don't know just how SNOTTY I really am, yet. )

Saturday Evening!

The outfit of choice.
(I brought some Toms to put on for the athletic activity which I figured out was... Drum roll please...)

 Batting Cages!
Me, terrified, inserting the balls into the pitching machine.
Had to stand behind this "safety" net. EVERY time he hit the ball, I ducked!
My turn!
You can't see where the ball is going but you can hear the contact!
I'll just tell you, they were some great hits! :)

Really, Really, Really Casual Dining
@ Smash Burger
I love this joint, so it was not as bad as I thought it was going to be. :)
Yay! No McDonald's.

 The Earning Potential -
Bingo at Red Rock Casino
This was SUPER intense.
The first lady who called the numbers was fabulous, The second dude who filled in half way through our Bingo Jam Session, sucked. We all lost our Bingo rhythm. Along with our money as well! No one earned a thing, except mad respect for the 90 year olds who are in there "dobbing" away with such speed and accuracy!
Worthless sheets of paper.
Fun times with friends, even if they are my sugar's friends.
(They like me better anyways! Ha.)
We tried our luck at Keno!
Boo. But this sweet old lady, and her partner beside her who is NOT dead (but pretty close to it) just won $11,000, 3 weeks ago. The worker said she has been in that same seat ever since, for hours at a time, just giving it ALL back to the casino. :(
Cecille! I love you.
These girls are my friends. But they came from the Dental World.

Sunday Afternoon & Evening!
Jack hysterically crying for Daddy after church, while my sugar is at ANOTHER church meeting.  (I'm not complaining, well, maybe just a little bit.)
Making me a yummy birthday cake! It was DELICIOUS!
The Cranor's brought me over one of their famous chocolate cakes.
I REALLY felt special!
Birthday Snuggle!

Family Tradition with my Sugar's Dutch Version of Happy Birthday!
"Hip, Hip, Hooray. Hip, Hip, Hooray. Hip, Hip, Hooray!"

I had a fabulous birthday! Thank to my family and friends who helped make it such a special day for me! Here's 364 more days until we do this again!

My Little Man and Mommy Date

Nothing could be much cuter than having your little boy take you out on a date. He was such a gentleman. We talked about how you hold your date's door open for them, you allow them to go first when sitting down at the table, and always use your best manners. I do realize he in only 2, going on 3, but hopefully he will remember some of these important lessons when he actually starts dating; Needless to say, I am sure we will have many more of these fun nights together, because... I FREAKING WANT THEM! It was so fun to spend time with my boy. (He invited Grandma Jones to go to, because "It's just nice to invite her to have fun too, Mom!" We were glad she got to come have fun with us.)

Dialogue from that night:

"Where should we go for dinner?"
Jack: "Somewhere with hot dogs.
I want you to have hot dogs for our date!"
Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ
They had corn dogs, which is pretty close to a hot dog.
Jack allowed me to pick my own meal; we discussed how it is important to let the lady decide what she likes.
No one wants someone who tells them what to do, eat, or say.
(Life Lessons being taught baby! Oh yeah!)
"Just hanging out mom. We will get a table soon."
"This is the biggest bib I have EVER seen."

"Say cheese Grandma and look at the camera."
Sucker - for earlier pooping on the potty!
"Mom, I just LOVE sports. I LOVE basketball,
and soccer ball, and volleyball, and football, and baseball.
I LOVE them all."
"My daddy teached me, Grandma. I CAN DO IT MYSELF."

"I want this biggest, bluest one.
When I am bigger, I will ride in this boat."

"Ready, Set, Spike the ball!"
"OK, I'm going to kick the soccer ball and
then score a goal. OK?"
"Let's just snuggle.
Is that Superman? I LOVE Superman.
Where is Batman?
Who is that Green Dude?"
We ended the night watching a Justice League in our comfy jammies.

I had such a fun time with my sweet precious boy. He is just as much of a gentlemen as his Daddy. I CAN definitely wait for him to start dating because, hmmm...   how can I put this so it is clear to everyone...
NO ONE
is good enough for my baby boy.
NO ONE!

Sunset Park is for the birds...

along with ducks... and geese!

I can't tell you how many times we have been to this park and fed these flying creatures, but I can tell you that every time we go,  my babies have so much fun! They are so excited when they eat their little piece of bread. "Mom, he got mine. I threw it right to him. He loved it too! His tummy is all full up!" They are so excited when they walk right up to them and look at them like, "Hey give me some of your bread right now or I'll peck your finger off." (Explanation from Afton of a humungous Goose's thoughts as he looked at her, as we drove home.) They are so excited to scream at the tops of their lungs at the disgusting pigeons who creep up trying to steal some food. "Get away pigeons! No one even likes you!" exclaims Jack.  Today was a special trip to Sunset Park because we got to play with our cousins! They were so excited to see James, Andrew, Brooke, and Aunt Stephanie.

 The Pond

The Playground
"Hold on Brooke, I have to take a picture! Cheese (In an irritated tone)"
"How do I do this?"
"Are you sure you just climb?"
"OK! Here I go!"

Thanks for the invite!
We love Sunset Park!
