We had kids similar in age and they got along well. Like really well. Plus their kids weren't little stinkers, bonus. (Can't say the same for mine.)
Kids, best buddies.
Wives, just the best of the best.
Jack had an auction at school today.
Brought in some old stuff from his room to donate.
He was so stoked to spend his tickets on things he wanted.
He didn't have as many tickets as some of his other classmates had, mainly because he didn't keep track of them. Organization is not his best quality.
He even bought some of the stuff he had actually donated.
I asked him what in the world was he doing buying something that he already owned and decided to donate in the first place.
"I bought it so I could make sure my friend could have it. He didn't earn a lot of tickets and he's my friend. I just wanted to make him happy."
It was the best auction I've ever been to in my life. Being an awesome freaking human is his best quality.
In all seriousness he said to me, "Doesn't metal rust? I'm going to die from rust poisoning."
And then when I offered McDonald's with a play place - to distract him from his certain death because of this newly placed RPE (Rapid Palatal Expander) slowly poisoning him - a new fear popped in his head.
"Mom. Honestly. I can't swallow. I physically can not swallow ever again. I'm going to die of starvation."
A day later, he's had smoothies only and soft bread.
He's not as concerned about the metal anymore, as I explained that dentists take every precaution to ensure they don't put harmful metals into a body, when trying to help their patients. I reminded him he could ask his dentist father this too if his concerns continued. He said, "Oh yeah. Dad would know. Good idea."
One day at a time for my logical and worrisome boy.
Man, I love him. He's just the cutest.
For 2 years now he's been asking to do this.
I've always had an excuse not to let it happen. School's starting. School pictures. It's too cold out. It's too hot out, you'll sunburn.
Finally I said after your beautiful if you still want to do it, fine.
He did not forget.
He said he wants to be like his Uncle Gary because he's so cool.
He said he just likes the three way it looks.
He told the lady shorter after she trimmed the top with a 3 clipper. (She was terrified he would regret it.)
He told the lady after it was finished that he loved it because now he didn't have to do his hair ever again.
Glad he got what he wanted, finally. Also glad that the Seattle Sounders scored 3 goals so that this was free.
Love my handsome boy with and without hair.
